some things old, some things new

Dries van Noten, Spring RTW 2010
Need to find my own luxe long skirt and casual top combo

Tadanori Yokoo

On my first ever trip to New York back in 2006 I found a postcard by Yokoo in the MOMA giftshop which is one of my all-time favourites. I love his style but sadly I've never been able to find that particular image online to show other people

Encountering one of Cai Guo-qiang's exploding car installations at his exhibition at NAMOC, Beijing in 2008 made him into one of my favourite contemporary Chinese artists. The scale of the whole thing was overwhelming and slightly stupefying. When this was shown at the Guggenheim in New York a few months before the whole installation was constructed upwards, hung vertically in the great open space of the hall which would have been even more glorious to see.

Julianne Moore in Tom Ford's 'A Single Man' (2009)
My favourite shot in a film replete with incredible still-frames - each one a bona fide fashion advert.

Nick Knight, 'Flash Dance', Vogue UK (September 2004)
Avidly reading every issue of British Vogue since I was 13. Nick Knight + Gemma Ward made this into one of the most memorable editorials. Others were cut out for various teenage art projects, but this remains sacred and untouchable.
